Our first day out........

Our first day out........

or otherwise known as Lockdown day 54 !!! Well tonight on the eve of getting the sounds of tennis balls been hit around our Tasmanian courts I can tell you there are quite some nervous people and businesses out there. Nervous because for many whilst an income has been a struggle there has been huge efforts in planning for the resumption of play. Nervous too because no one is quite sure how are game will come back together and in what time frame. Fundamentally particularly at our level tennis is an extremely social sport, so with still restrictions in play in regards to numbers and competition in will take a little time to see what evolves. Our costs too are extremely important to watch, there are still many either unemployed or on reduced hours so it's certainly not going to be business as usual. In speaking to quite a few coaches today there has been a lot of thought put in to how a lesson might look, who touches the balls, how the court is set up right down to the court entrance and keeping the gate open. My girls would have loved been in coaching right now as neither was a huge fan of picking up balls from memory , so the thought of not needing to would be so cool for them.

Here at the Domain Eddie has kept his work ethic high, and has achieved some great work, some visible, some not. From two very large bins of refuse to club and ground improvements , a massive amount of cleaning and many new management tools available online through the clubs website, I know he is ready for action. Unfortunately Fyshe has had a health scare during our down time , obviously couldn't handle not pouring a beer !!!!! so we wish him a very speedy recovery. So good luck everyone , stay mindful on what we did to get this far, keep doing all that and make sure you enjoy that first hit when you get back on court.

Lastly a big shout out to our committee at the club who have kept in touch and made sure we all were going ok along the way. Time to play ..............
